• Typo Taps Out in Legal Battle with BlackBerry

The Ryan Seacrest-backed Typo iPhone keyboard is pulling out of what it hoped would be its niche market.

According to published reports Monday, BlackBerry and Typo have finally settled their ongoing legal skirmish. As previously reported, BlackBerry accused Typo of infringing upon its famous smartphone keyboard design.

The nature of the settlement? Typo is halting the sale of smartphone keyboards for devices of a certain size *mobile phones with screens smaller than 7.9 inches). They may continue to sell keyboards for devices with a screen size of 7.9 inches or larger.

"A smartphone’s screen size dictates a keyboard’s design, and the settlement suggests BlackBerry has no plans to adapt its keyboard to devices with screen sizes of 7.9 inches or more," the report notes.

BlackBerry says other terms of the settlement are going to remain confidential.
