• Apple May Briefly Occupy Old FAO Schwarz Store in NYC

The Associated Press is reporting that Apple has plans to renovate its iconic glass-centric flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York City.

The renovation, we're told, will likely be so extensive and time consuming that Apple will set up shop temporarily in a nearby location while the refurbishments take place.

The temporary spot? We hear that it could be the building vacated by the recently departed FAO Schwarz, the iconic toy store that is no longer a mainstay in the Big Apple.

And as Apple looks to open new stores or renovate existing ones - including the iconic New York Fifth Avenue store, with its distinctive glass-cube entrance - the company will look for additional ways to do that.
"It's no different than every customer downloads different apps and customizes their phones differently," Angela Ahrendts, senior VP of Retail at Apple, is quoted in the report.

The NYC store is just one of nearly two dozen Apple Stores the company has plans to renovate.
