At the end of last year, we introduced Amazon’s new ‘Siri-like’ virtual assistant device that works in a standalone tubular speaker called Echo. Today, the electronic commerce company officially announced to customers that they have opened up orders to the general public. Previously, Echo was only available as an invite only purchase but now anyone in the United States could order the new accessory. However, the expected ship date for Echo is next month on July 14th. The overall rating for the device is 4.5 stars as it’s been available since November of last year for invites to purchase.
Amazon’s Echo is capable of delivering music, traffic, and weather just to name a few, and costs consumers $179.99 to purchase. According to VP of Amazon Echo & Speech, Greg Hart, the accessory has received great positive response from customers.
We are grateful to our early customers for their incredible engagement and for providing us with invaluable feedback to help shape Echo as it evolves—with their help, we've been able to add features like Audible, Pandora, home automation, sports scores, calendar, and more. We're excited to get Echo into the hands of even more customers and continue to invent new features and experiences.
