Amidst a national debate that rages on with regard to the existence and routine display of the Confederate flag (which some see as a symbol of southern pride and others view as a horrific symbol of racism), it appears that Apple has decided which side of the debate it will be on as the controversy continues.
Touch Arcade broke the news today (which has since been confirmed by a number of app publishers and gaming companies) that Apple is now taking down all games that display the Confederate flag either in a game's marketing or within gameplay itself.
We don't have an exact count for you on the number of games pulled, but good luck finding any games with the flag displayed that are still available for purchase or download.
"It's looking like Apple has pulled everything from the App Store that features a Confederate flag, regardless of context," the report explains, which also provides a quote from a written explanation that is reportedly being provided to developers courtesy of Apple. The explanation for why a game is pulled is "...because it includes images of the confederate flag used in offensive and mean-spirited ways."
