• Apple Will Be Increasing App Store Prices in Certain Countries in the Next 36 Hours

New reports are claiming that Apple will be increasing App Store prices again sometime soon. A copy of an email given to AppleInsider states that South Korea, South Africa, Turkey, and Mexico will be affected by the hike in price. Apple will also be offering low price tiers in some emerging markets. The note said that changes will go into effect sometime in the next 36 hours as the company will be increasing the prices in order to make up for foreign exchange rate fluctuations and 10% VAT for South Korea.

This means that auto-renewal subscriptions will be cancelled in those countries since pricing will be different. Customers will have to re-subscribe to the apps they have subscriptions for when adjustments go into place. The Cupertino-based company will be sending e-mails out to customers to remind them to re-subscribe. VAT fees for developers who reside outside of South Korea will be paid for by Apple, in which they will collect back after and those who live in South Korea will have to pay their own VAT fees.

Two new low-price tiers called ‘Alternate Tier A’ and ‘Alternate Tier B’ will also be launched by Apple in South Africa, Mexico, India, Turkey, Indonesia, and Russia. Prices for the European Union, Canada, Russia, and Norway were raised back in January of this year to account for VAT.
