• Readdle's Spark E-mail Client Updated With Slew of Improvements, New Features

On Thursday, Readdle's new Spark e-mail client application that launched in May for the iOS platform received a notable update to version 1.0.1 with a slew of improvements and new features that improve the application's stability and usability.

Among the new features, Spark now allows you to disable loading remote images in order to save yourself from potential privacy issues and unwanted data usage. Moreover, a new "Delete All" button is now available in your Spam folder so you can bulk-delete your spam messages without having to remove them one by one; improvements also span to other e-mail inboxes, with a new "Edit Mode" making it possible to bulk-delete items.

Other improvements in the application include improved optimization for battery life usage, added support for additional IMAP accounts, improvements to the application icon badge indicator, and a readdle-spark:// URL scheme for use in other apps to take advantage of.

More bug fixes are listed in the change log, which is available for you to read below:

While the new version of Spark is just 1.0.1, it’s actually a huge update. It makes Spark a lot better, for everyone.

    - New: "Edit mode" allows you to delete and archive emails in bulk. Just tap and hold on the email in the list to activate it.
    - New: "Delete all" button for Trash and Spam folders. Empty your Trash with just one tap.
    - New: You now can disable “Load remote images" to protect your privacy and save data usage.
    - New: readdle-spark:// URL scheme for use in other apps

    - Improved: The Icon Badge now works better in background.
    - Improved: Battery usage has been greatly optimised.
    - Improved: Added Support for more custom IMAP accounts.

    - Fixed: authorization issues for iCloud email accounts.
    - Fixed: email draft created with Spark sharing extension not being saved.
    - Fixed: email synchronization issues.
    - Fixed: an issue that was asking you to log in into an already added account.
    - Fixed: Reduced the number of times you see Spark splash screen while launching the app.
    - Fixed: more than 30 other issues.

    - Removed: We removed Exchange from email account types list. This is only an interface change that doesn’t affects how Spark works with Exchange servers. To add an Exchange email account via IMAP connection, simply use Other option in “Add Account” dialog. We are working full time on better Exchange support and will restore Exchange as a stand alone email account type once it will be ready.
    - Removed: We removed Read Receipts functionality for new Spark installations due to mixed reviews. Hopefully, we will bring it back someday.
If you're already a user, then this Spark update is available for you under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Spark for free from this App Store link and enjoy all of the new features.

I really like Spark for my various personal email accounts; however it still doesn't work well with my work Exchange account. Readdle's release notes indicate they're still working on Exchange compatibility. Nevertheless, Spark is an awesome email client.

I wish for a less confusing smart mailbox view and more quick reply options other than the three
