ProTube fans are going to be excited Thursday as the popular classic from Cydia has been updated with design improvements in version 1.10 that make the application feel more native when running on iOS 7 or iOS 8. The new design includes a new look and feel for the toolbar at the bottom of the application, as well as a better quality picker for the application that is good for up to 1080p video quality, as shown above.
The update also fixes a variety of unnamed bugs and enhances the stability of the application, as well as support for iOS 8.3 & 8.4. ProTube in Cydia is a $1.99 purchase for those that don't already own it; however, this is a free upgrade for those that already own the application.
It is worth noting that the Cydia version of ProTube is somewhat of a side project for the developer, Jonas Gessner, who has informed us that most of his developmental efforts are being put towards the App Store version of ProTube. On the other hand, the developer still maintains ProTube for users when users or iOS updates call for bug fixes or design updates.
Those using the App Store version of the ProTube application cannot download videos without the 'Download Enabler for ProTube 2' extension from Cydia; it will allow users to download videos via the App Store version of the application and watch them while they're offline. The extension is free, although ProTube for YouTube is a $2.99 purchase from the App Store.
