The next generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 Plus have been rumored to have a Force Touch display just like the Apple Watch and Apple's latest-generation notebooks, but there have been conflicting rumors suggesting that both models of iPhone 6s could have the feature, or that even only the "Plus" model will have the feature.
New photos leaked by GeekBar, a Chinese iPhone repair firm, show off some purported prototype display assemblies for the upcoming iPhone 6s. Although the new display assembly looks mostly the same as the current-generation display assembly, there are minor differences, but not enough to confirm whether or not the new display assembly actually has Force Touch built into it.
A recent report suggests that Apple recently kicked off mass production of Force Touch displays for the next-generation iPhone, so it's entirely possible that this could be one of the first prototypes off of the assembly line.
Other sources claim that one of the major changes is that the display assembly for the iPhone 6s is 7.1mm thick, rather than 6.9mm thick like the current iPhone 6 display. This would mean that the new display assembly for the iPhone 6s is the same thickness as the current iPhone 6 Plus display assembly. The additional thickness could indicate presence of Force Touch technology, but this is only speculation.
Other parts for the upcoming iPhone have also reportedly been pictured, such as a unified ribbon/flex cable for various components on the iPhone 6s, as well as rear-facing camera rings, Touch ID sensor rings, and iPhone casings.
