• Adidas Works Out the Details in Acquisition of Runtastic

On Wednesday, news came straight from Runtastic, the prominent fitness app maker, that it has been acquired by Adidas.

The well-known athletic apparel firm is said to have paid close to $240 million for Runtastic, though it isn't clear if that's an official figure as of this writing.

Nonetheless, Runtastic CEO Florian Gschwandtner was eager to tout the buyout and did so today on the Runtastic Blog.

"With our new partner, weve found the perfect match when it comes to taking our business to the next level and ultimately serving our community members in even better and smarter ways," Gschwandtner writes, noting that both companies "firmly believe that together we can build a unique product portfolio and unparalleled customer journey for our existing community members and future users."

For Runtastic users, Gschwandtner says "not much" will change. Runtastic and its present leadership will be brought into the fold at Adidas.
