• Apple Calls for More Diversity with New Code2040 Partnership

On Wednesday, Apple confirmed what it calls efforts to bring more diversity to the workplaces of Silicon Valley.

To that end, the iPhone maker says it has secured a partnership with Code2040, a nonprofit "trying to close the diversity gap in the tech industry."

Buzzfeed says that the organizationís fellowship program is the key to its success.

"Each year since 2013, Code2040 has accepted a class of fellows ó 'top performing Black and Latino/a college level computer science students,' per the organizationís website ó and given them both on-the-job skills as well as tools to help them prepare for situations that might arise when youíre the only minority in the room at work. Then, it places them at prestigious internships in the tech industry," the report explains.

Being a ďplatinumĒ sponsor of the fellowship program, Apple says it will hire 10 of the 80 fellows in Code2040ís current class (they will be paid interns), and an additional 2 in the future, all of whom will be employed at Apple's Cupertino headquarters.
