• Samsung Teases With Video of Gear S2 Smartwatch in Response to Apple Watch

We reported earlier that South Korean-based company and Apple rival Samsung unveiled their new 5.7-inch devices today, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 to compete with Apple’s iPhone 6s Plus. The company also then unveiled their Gear S2 smartwatch as well, in response to the Apple Watch. The Gear S2 wearable device sports a round display and will be fully revealed at the IFA trade show in Berlin on September 3rd.

The Gear S2 was only briefly previewed at the end of their presentation, so it was really just a teaser. Not much juicy information was given on the smartwatch, so we guess we’ll just have to wait until next month to see what it’s all about. Samsung’s original Gear S is a rectangular smartwatch that runs Tizen operating system, which the new watch will run as well. Along with having a round display, it will also sport a rotating bezel so that users can navigate the interface.

Will you be tuning in next month’s IFA trade show in Berlin to see the full unveiling of Samsung’s Gear S2 smartwatch? Share your thoughts with us in the section below. Click the source link to watch the full teaser.

It would be nice to see Samsung innovate instead of just imitate for once.

I have the original Gear S, released a year before the Apple Watch and has circle icons, in fact the same icons.
LG & Audi demoed a round watch with round icons using webOS back in January. webOS has been using rounded icons since it was PalmOS, 19 years now. Sort of like how all the iPhone's icons ripped off the LG Prada. The original Gear S had round icons. For that matter, Tizen, which Samsung's watches use, has been using mostly rounded icons on their smartphones for years now. But hey, now that Apple is joining the party well after everyone else, when people continue to use the same design, they must be ripping off Apple, right?
