• Two New Apple Music Ads Debuted During MTV VMAs Featuring The Weeknd



    The 2015 MTV VMAs was on Sunday night and Apple debuted two new Apple Music commercials that featured The Weeknd and guest appearance by John Travolta. MTV VMAs typically have a large younger viewing audience so Apple most likely wanted to use that to their advantage. Apple Music’s new ads were split into a two part narrative, each one-minute long.

    The first ad shows The Weeknd going backstage after a performance at the VMAs heading towards a limo and after settling down, scrolling through Apple Music on his iPhone. He then listens to Beats1 Radio in which the DJ talks about his performance at the VMAs, while he scrolls through his own artist page on Apple Music Connect. The angle then zooms to John Travolta as the limo driver asking him where they were headed.

    The second commercial shows The Weeknd arriving at the VMAs afterparty in which ‘The Hills’ is playing at the party. He then takes out his iPhone again and pulls up his playlist while adding more songs. The commercial ends with tagline “It’s all in your head. Create your own party. Unlimited Music for $9.99” and wraps up with the Apple Music logo.
