• LG Competes With Apple and Announces Limited Edition 'Urbane Watch Luxe' Smartwach

We’ve seen many celebrities sporting the gold and rose gold versions of the Apple Watch Edition and now South Korean electronics company LG has announced their upscale version of its Urbane smartwatch. The new LG wearable device is a 23-karat gold limited edition watch called the Urbane Luxe. LG’s new addition will come with an alligator strap at an overall price of $1,200.

The original Urbane was released earlier this year and the Luxe version will offer everything the regular one does. The only difference is the ‘exclusive’ shiny lacquer casing, a gold body, and alligator strap. According to LG, the new luxury wearable device was ‘designed with a specific wearer in mind.’ They did not however, specify who the target was.

LG’s Chris Yie stated in a release:

Wearable devices shouldn't be thought of as an extension of one's smartphone but an extension of oneself. This blending of craftsmanship and technology is a natural evolution of the smartwatch, which is becoming more of a lifestyle accessory than a piece of hardware. We think this is a good direction for wearables and we want to encourage this transformation.
Only 500 of the Urbane Luxe devices will be made so if you do decide to spend the $1,200, you’ll be a part of the ‘exclusive’ club. The South-Korean company partnered with US company REEDS Jewelers for the limited edition device and each will have an ‘unique’ serial number as well.
