• Apple Continues to Hire Talent with Automotive Experience, Likely for "Project Titan"

According to profiles discovered on LinkedIn, Apple appears to be hiring more people that are likely working on Project Titan, it’s rather secretive automotive project. Among the new recruits is Hal Ockerse, who is now working with an unspecified software engineering team. Ockerse was previously with Tesla, where he worked on hardware architecture and advanced driver assistance system components including cameras, LiDAR and engine control units. Prior to his foray at Tesla, he also worked on similar technology for 11 years at a company called Gentex.

Others that surfaced on LinkedIn with similar vague positions at Apple include Subhagato Dutta, who is a new “technologist” at Apple and formerly worked on an automotive algorithm and imaging algorithm development team at Texas Instruments and Yakshu Madaan, who was hired as a technical program manager. Madaan’s resume includes time as an operations manager at India’s Tata Motors and the development of fuel injection concepts as a research assistant at the Indian Institute of Technology and UBC.

Apple seems to be hiring many with automotive experience this year with Tesla’s employees being a major recruiting target. Just last month, Apple managed to pick up one of Tesla’s top engineers, Jamie Carlson.

Previous rumors and speculation point towards Apple developing an electric car but recent reports are claiming that this car may also be self-driving. Just last month, it was confirmed that Apple discussed using a third-party facility which was known for testing self-driving vehicles. We’ll have to wait and see until more concrete information is revealed.
