• Update for Pixelmator for Mac Adds Support for OS X El Capitan's New Features

Pixelmator, perhaps one of the best Photoshop alternatives available on the Mac OS X platform, has received a major update to version 3.4 on Thursday with huge improvements for using the software on OS X 10.11 El Capitan, Apple's latest Mac desktop operating system.

Among the many new features, Pixelmator has gained support for split-screen multitasking, making it easier to work on things with another application on the other side of your screen. Moreover, the application can now take advantage of Metal, a graphical feature of OS X El Capitan that lets applications render graphics faster by accessing the graphics hardware directly, to make its distort tools even faster.

Other improvements include support for Force Touch track pads, support for the new San Francisco font face, and various performance improvements and bug fixes that make the application more stable.

Existing users of Pixelmator for Mac will see this update waiting for them for free under the Updates tab in the Mac App Store application. Alternatively, you can download Pixelmator for $29.99 from the Mac App Store at this link.
