• Apple Adds New 'Shopping' Category to iOS App Store

Apple recently updated their iOS App Store to include a new ‘Shopping’ category, in which users can find better shopping-related apps. This new section will apparently be available to those on the iOS platform internationally and within the U.S. According to TechCrunch, apps will include those that offer shopping, coupons, product reviews, auctions, price comparisons, and more. This was definitely a great time to release this category as we are just a little over two weeks away from Thanksgiving and Black Friday holiday shopping season.

It was noted that the new Shopping category will be used to highlight apps that have Apple’s mobile payment service, Apple Pay. Plenty of apps in the iOS store now have Apple Pay support as it is much more convenient to just pay from your phone with just a few clicks. For those who have Touch ID on their device have it even easier with just a touch of fingerprint scanning. It is possible that Apple will release this category to the tvOS and OS X App Store as well, depending on how the iOS platform does with the new category.

Apps like Zappos, Nordstrom, Gilt and more are all on the list in the ‘Shopping’ category. Those who are shopping fanatics can start looking at apps in the category now.
