• Apple Sends Out Special Edition Art Books to "Shot on iPhone 6" Campaign Photographers

In an effort to thank the photographers whose pictures were used as part of Apple’s “Shot on iPhone 6” ad campaign, the company is sending out special coffee table books that contain the collections of selected works and their respective installations around the world. According to photographer Brendan Ó Sé, the books came as a surprise from Apple arriving “totally out of the blue at his doorstep without any prior notifications. Many artists are continuing to receive their copies of the book across the globe.

Each package contains two cloth-bound books, one of which is titled “The Photographs which touts the pictures Apple selected to be a part of its “Shot on iPhone 6” and another titled “The Gallery,” which shows off the various advertising installations such as outdoor billboards for the pieces. Along with the two books, Apple bundled a pair of white reading gloves to help protect the high-quality paper from oil.

For those of you who didn’t know, Apple’s “Shot on iPhone 6” ad push originally launched in March, using hand-selected photos curated from the Internet and social media sites to help boast the iPhone’s image capture capabilities. The campaign rolled out just six months prior to the debut of the handset in 2014, giving Apple enough time to select from a large pool of generated content. The Cupertino California company showcased the art on large outdoor billboards and on their own website, then expanded to include videos with an ad campaign that was drawn to a close as Apple’s marketing team swapped focus to the iPhone 6s. The ad placements were replaced by new product spots at that point but “The Gallery” compilation likely holds a special meaning for photographers whose work was touched by a wide global audience thanks to Apple’s efforts.

It hasn’t been made clear if Apple has plans to make the printings available for purchase but with an iPhone 6s campaign running in full swing, chances are the books were more of a one-time thing for the Cupertino California company to thank a select group of photographers.
