• Volkswagen Wins Over Apple's Mac Engineering Chief

A key player on the Mac team is leaving Apple for Volkswagen.

According to an announcement from the automaker, Johann Jungwirth has been appointed as Head of the Volkswagen Group's newly-established Digitalization Strategy Department effective.

The appointment was effective November 1st.

The Romania-born Jungwirth was previously named Director for Mac Systems Engineering at Apple. He assumed the position in 2014. While at Apple, Jungwirth was, according to today's media release from Volkswagen, responsible for "innovation in design and engineering in product development as well as hiring, growing and leading a multicultural research & development team and supporting the Special Projects Group."

Apple has not commented on Jungwirth's departure or a potential replacement.
