• Firefox for iOS Officially Lands in the iOS App Store

On Thursday, the long-teased Firefox for iOS Web browser has officially launched in the iOS App Store, giving iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users yet another option to use when surfing the Web on their mobile devices.

Firefox for iOS looks and feels a lot like Firefox on the Mac. You'll be able to tell as soon as you open the application that you're in the Firefox Web browser just by the look and feel of the user interface the tabs, the buttons, and the URL bar. Built for speed and usability, Firefox for iOS includes a lot of features you'd want, including private browsing, an intuitive multi-tab design for seeing all your open Web pages, and intelligent Web searches.

Firefox for iOS can sync with all of the rest of your devices that use Firefox (requires Firefox Sync account), and it keeps track of your most-used sites so that you can get to them faster without having to search for them manually.

Those interested in giving the new Firefox Web browser for iOS a try can download it free of cost from this App Store link. Mozilla has even went a step further and made the Swift 2.0-built Web browser open source at this Github link so that you can see what it took to build Firefox for iOS and what makes it tick.

You guys realize that Apple doesn't allow 3rd party browsers right?

FireFox, Chrome etc are nothing more than a GUI for Safari. Now there can be some options available that Safari doesn't have, but the engine behind all these browsers is still just Safari underneath. Sorry.

Not supported with 3d touch. I'll stick with safari.

Not only the fact that all 3rd party browser has to use safari's rendering engine but the JavaScript is slowed down as well. So essentially the experience is slower than safari. The apple restriction is just a joke.

Yes, I forgot about that too!

But I do like the claims from others that FF or Crome run faster than Safari!

Not true anymore, WKWebView renders Java at the same speed.
