• Apple, SunPower Working Together in China

Apple's ambitions in the renewable energy space continue to grow in size and scope, particularly across the Asian landscape.

That much is once again clear today amid the latest reports to emerge from China. According to Bloomberg, Apple is now working with the team at SunPower to dramatically increase the amount of solar energy harnessed by the iDevice maker in its manufacturing efforts.

The report in question notes that SunPower will build three solar farms in China. For Apple, that translates to a capacity of 170 megawatts. Altogether, this will quadruple Apple's "commitments to pollution-free power in the country."

"Last month," Bloomberg reminds us, "Apple said it was planning to invest in 200 more megawatts of the renewable energy and encourage suppliers to make similar commitments."

For now, Apple isn't speaking publicly about its plans with SunPower, but you can count on this promising development being included in a future "green energy update" from the Cupertino, California-based tech giant.
