• Skype iOS App Updated With Support for Phone Numbers, Calendars, and Addresses

On Monday, Microsoft has released an update for its Skype application on the iOS platform, bringing it up to version 6.6 in the iOS App Store.

The updated Skype application adds support for highlighted dates, addresses, and phone numbers, which you can now interact with via the Skype application. For example, a highlighted date can now be tapped on to add an event to your calendar, a highlighted address can be tapped on to open it up directly in the Maps application, and a phone number can be tapped to call it directly with your Skype VoIP credits.

Moreover, this update improves multitasking somewhat on the iPhone by making it easier to return to an active call by tapping on a new banner that appears when you start using other parts of the application while you're in the middle of a call. Additionally, a new unread counter appears to show you how many unread conversations you have while you're already in the middle of a current conversation.

Microsoft also cites some general improvements in this update, which could include bug fixes and performance improvements.

Existing users of the Skype application for iOS can update to the latest version of the application by visiting the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can head over to this App Store link to download the latest version of Skype for iPhone completely free.
