• Volvo Embracing CarPlay with 2016 XC90 Model

Add Volvo to the list of prominent automakers getting their ducks in a row for the rapidly evolving connected car market. This week, representatives for Volvo confirmed to CNET their adoption of Apple's CarPlay for the 2016 XC90 crossover.

Of course, if you just bought a new XC90, you're not out of luck. Just head over to your local dealer and CarPlay can be activated. That's all it takes to begin using the service, we're told.

"The required software flash should take no longer than an hour. If you plan on buying an XC90 and want CarPlay included, Volvo said it would be available for a 'small cost,' and that additional clarification is forthcoming," CNET confirms.

Volvo even released a clip of CarPlay in action, which you can check out below.

Expanding their reach across mobile ecosystems, Volvo is also planning to embrace Android Auto sometime during the 2016 calendar year as well.
