• Apple Reportedly Procures New Real Estate in North San Jose

Apple has scored some new land in California.

Local reports picked up by BizJournals note that Apple has procured a former chip fab in North San Jose. Why is this significant? It appears that there's no slowing down for Apple with regard to the breakneck speed of the company's push through Silicon Valley.

Based on the details hitting the press, Apple coughed up just north of $18 million earlier this month for the property in question, which is a 70,000 square foot facility.

"The purchase is notable for the real estate's former use: It was a manufacturing facility for semiconductor company Maxim Integrated Products, which was also the seller," BizJournals confirms.

A funny twist in the story? Apple is now "neighbors" with Samsung Semiconductor. The Apple rival opened a massive campus on the same street earlier this year.
