• Tesla Taking Hiring Ambitions to the Next Level

Tesla, it seems, has begun taking Apple a lot more seriously when it comes to the iDevice maker's rumored electric car ambitions.

As speculation swirls that Apple is secretly hard at work on rolling out its first automobile product by the end of this decade, Tesla chief Elon Musk doesn't want his thunder stolen. And he's ready to ramp up efforts to ensure that its not.

"The electric-car company, which recently released its first sport-utility vehicle and will soon open a battery factory in Nevada, is looking to add thousands of employees in coming years just as an auto industry showdown for tech talent is brewing," MarketWatch is reporting.

Although the tough-talking Tesla boss once referred to Apple as a Tesla graveyard (Apple has hired a number of former Tesla talents), it now seems that Mr. Musk is feeling some heat from this "graveyard."

"Tesla, which grew to 14,000 employees from just 899 at the end of 2010, plans to add 4,500 more workers in California alone during the next four years," today's report notes.
