With the announcement of new products, Apple has deemed it the appropriate time to discontinue a couple of products at the same time.
As confirmed by The Verge, Apple has indeed discontinued the original iPad Air, and the iPhone 5S. Apple has even taken a step further and replaced the older 4-inch iPhone with the newer model, the iPhone SE, on the company’s iPhone landing page. Where the iPhone 5S used to be listed, nestled in the top banner along with its newer iPhone brethren, is now hosting the iPhone SE instead.
The original iPad Air is now discontinued as well, with Apple offering just the iPad Air 2 instead in that particular lineup. Considering Apple has just launched the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, this isn’t too surprising, either.
The iPhone SE starts at $399 for the 16GB model. To find a cheaper iPad, you’ll either need to pick the iPad mini 2 for $269, or go with the iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 4, both of which now start at $399.
