• Samsung reports Q1 mobile profits just 24% of Apple's

    Samsung has reported Q1 profits of $5.81 billion USD, Samsung Electronics mobile division has reported $3.38 billion USD in profits, which is a disappointing $13.987 billion in operating profits as Apple reported for the same Q1 quarter.

    Samsung profited 58% of it's sales came from IT & Mobile Communications (IM group), which is comparable to how Apple works. Samsung Electronics other divisions come from selling TVs and appliances and its 'DS' division includes sales of display panels, memory components and semi conductors.

    Samsung IT & Mobile Communications (IM group) was contributing 70 percent of Samsung's profits in 2014, which was mainly from Samsung's Galaxy S and Note device sales. Samsung IT & Mobile Communications is Apple's most profitable competitor, and is by far the largest manufacturer of smartphones.

    Samsung IM earns 24% of Apple's operating profits. The profits for the quarter were set at $13.987 billion, down from 23.5% in Q1 last year despite the iPhone, iPad and Mac sales decline in March.
    Throughout the rest of 2016, Samsung told investors to "expect smartphone demand growth to slow YoY, while tablet demand to decrease YoY." Samsung IT & Mobile Communications is still earning 24 percent of Apple's profits , Samsung has shipped 81.9 million handsets compared to Apple's 51.2 million iPhone's.

      While it’s much smaller, their YOY fall was much smaller than Apple’s, interesting. That probably has to do with the S7 being extremely compelling while the 6s is one of the smallest changes Apple’s had between models.
