• Leaked screens show Siri in Apple's upcoming OS X 10.12 with always-on 'Hey Siri'

Siri has become a serious feature for iOS-based devices, one of the many built-in features meant to help owners when they need it.

And yet, Siri has yet to make a break for the Mac lineup of devices, but that could be changing soon. An early report pointed to OS X 10.12 as the release that could see Siri arrive on the desktop platform, with Apple positioning it as a tentpole feature for the upcoming software. Now, new images have leaked ahead of that announcement, seemingly solidifying those rumors.

Thanks to MacRumors, we have a first look at what is said to be the dock and menu icons for Siri for Mac. In the menu bar, as one might expect, the Siri icon is a simple black-and-white “Siri” set within a small box. On the other end of the spectrum is the dock icon, which is very colorful and features a Siri-based waveform image as well.

Clicking on either one of those icons will pop up the standard Siri waveform that will allow users to speak to the digital personal assistant as they would on an iOS device. The report also indicates that OS X 10.12 will also support a hands-free “Hey Siri” feature as well, similar to what’s present on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

As it stands right now, Siri for Mac is still in early development, but expectations have it that Siri on the desktop OS will be able to do exactly what it does on iOS devices, like answer queries, offer sports scores, and more.

“Siri integration in the Mac is still in the early stages of development, but the assistant will presumably be able to answer many of the same queries and perform many of the same tasks it can on iOS devices – opening apps, conducting web searches, controlling HomeKit, sending text messages, reading emails, setting calendar events, and more. “
It’s also worth noting that the Worldwide Developers Conference is still about a month away, which means that these icons could change, and the features and functions could change for Siri for Mac as well. Still, it’s a nice look at an oft-requested feature.

Are you eager to use Siri for Mac?
