• Apple Seeds First Beta of tvOS 10 and watchOS 3 to Developers

Apple’s opening keynote for WWDC 2016 just got over, and the company has made the first developer beta of watchOS 3 and tvOS 10 beta available for download for registered developers through the Developer Centre.

watchOS 3 comes with a number of new features, but most importantly, it packs some major performance improvements that greatly improve the responsiveness of the OS and third-party apps. Some of the new features that are a part of watchOS 3 include Control Center, Dock, new watch faces, APIs for developers, background app refresh, and more. You can read more about watchOS 3 here.

To get watchOS 3 beta on your Apple Watch, you will have to install the configuration profile from Apple’s developer centre directly on the watch to receive the OTA update.

The first beta of tvOS 10 is also available for download through the Developer Centre. tvOS 10 comes with new features like Live Tune-in, Single sign-on to sign in to all apps at once, a smarter Siri with third-party app integration, a Dark mode, and more.

tvOS 10 beta is only meant for the Apple TV 4. Like with the Apple Watch, you need to install a configuration profile directly on the device to receive the OTA update to tvOS 10 beta 1. While Apple is also providing an image for restoration purposes, make sure that you have Xcode 8 installed on your Mac before you start with the actual restore process.

I wasn't very impressed with the tvOS update or iOS 10. Watch OS 3 had some significant improvements tho. Single sign-on means absolutely nothing to those of us who cut the cable cord (which is why we have the Apple TV to begin with), and iOS 10 almost feels like a .release with not very significant enhancements. I'm thinking the messages app enhancements will only work with others in iOS 10 and not earlier versions and definitely not android. VOIP APIs are probably the most impressive feature since I have an old plan with limited minutes, I could defer to the third party apps.
