• Developers must connect their applications securely to servers by January 1st, 2017

Apple has introduced its App Transport Security feature in iOS 9 and ensured connections between its apps and server must be encrypted, however for developers it wasn't compulsory.

Reports from TechCrunch however have said Apple will require apps to use HTTPS connections to servers so that encrypted data is being transmitted.

Apple will make ATS mandatory for all developers who hope to submit their apps to the App Store at the end of 2016.

This is good news for app users, as thereís currently no real way to know whether an app uses HTTP or HTTPS.

Next year, we will be confident that it is secure.
