• MMi at Macworld: GuitarJack 2 Coming in March

Sonoma Wire Works is coming out with the GuitarJack 2 ($149) in March, the sequel to the popular guitar interface for iPhone and the iPod Touch. It features a 1/4-inch instrument input so you can connect guitars, mics, basses, keyboards and other instruments to an iOS device via the dock connector. It also has a 1/8-inch stereo mic/line input and a headphone jack that offers better sound quality and volume than the standard headphone jack on the iPhone.

It also comes with a free app that letís you set levels and gain. GuitarJack works with Sonoma Wire Works other apps as well including Taylor (Free), FourTrack ($9.99), and Recorder ($.99). Itís also compatible with other recording apps as well, so youíre not just limited to the apps available from Sonoma Wire Works.

The iOS is really starting to come into its own as a valuable music tool. With GuitarJack 2, you can turn your iPhone into a portable recoding studio. Sure, youíll have to record every instrument individually, but many artists record that way anyway. GuitarJack 2 feels quite solid in your hand and is very well built. It should survive just about anything you though at it. The iPhone 4 by comparison, feels more fragile than the GuitarJack. If youíve been looking for a way to record guitar on your iPhone, then look no further than GuitarJack 2. I doubt youíll find anything better.
