• HTC Wants to Play 'Let's Make a Deal' With Apple

Earlier this month, the International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled in favor of Apple regarding two patents that the ITC reportedly violated. The move effectively gave Apple a commanding lead in what seems to be an otherwise unending patent battle.

On Tuesday, however, all signs that HTC was prepared to fight to the death with Apple somewhat subsided, as an executive with HTC informed Bloomberg that his company would be happy to reach a settlement with the iPhone maker in hopes of finally putting the patent war behind them.

Some are saying this is a clear white flag from a company that looks poised to suffer potentially irreparable damages if it continues to fight Apple.

The Taiwanese smartphone maker locked in a patent battle with Apple Inc., says its willing to negotiate with the iPhone maker after both sides scored victories at the U.S. International Trade Commission.
We have to sit down and figure it out, Winston Yung, chief financial officer of HTC, tells Bloomberg. Were open to having discussions. It should be noted, though, that Yung said hes "not aware of any formal talks" taking place between Apple and HTC since the ITC rulings came in.

We are open to all sorts of solutions, as long as the solution and the terms are fair and reasonable, Yung said. On and off weve had discussions with Apple, even before the initial determination came out.
