One of the many anticipated features expected to be announced tomorrow’s “Let’s Talk iPhone” event is the iPhone Assistant. The iPhone Assistant is a powerful voice recognition and artificial intelligence tool, which will enable real-time searching and control of iPhones. Apple obtained the technology purchased during the company’s acquisition of Siri in 2010. According to the Siri co-founder Norman Winarsky, the Assistant voice command feature in iOS 5 will be a "world-changing event.”

Winarsky continued by stating the following:
Right now a few people dabble in partial AI-enabled apps like Google Voice Actions, Vlingo, or Nuance Go. Siri was many iterations ahead of these technologies, or at least it was two years ago. This is REAL AI with REAL market use. If the rumors are true, Apple will enable millions upon millions of people to interact with machines with natural language. The PAL [Personal Assistant that Learns] will get things done and this is only the tip of the iceberg. We’re talking another technology revolution. A new computing paradigm shift.
The much anticipated feature must truly be ground-breaking if rumors as well as valid sources of information such as Winarsky are claiming it to be. One thing is for sure, tomorrow’s Apple event will definitely clear the air about the Assistant feature as well as many other speculations and rumors which are being passed around.
