Not only did October 12th bring with it the release of iOS 5, no shortage of Apple fans are getting their first up close and personal look at the new white models of the iPod touch, which are now turning up inside more than a few Apple stores.
Even though the iPod touch didn't see any significant tweaks or exciting general improvements this year, the availbility of white models has has made the longtime Apple product at least feel somewhat new again. Of course, the other big change apart from color is the operating system, as the new models will be available (and ship) with iOS 5 installed.
Starting at $199 for an 8GB model and topping out at $399 for a 64GB model, the white iPod touch is not yet availble in every Apple store in the US, but the expansion looks pretty comprehensive so far based on what we're hearing. Apple's online store appears to be well stocked with all six models of the iPod touch as any model will ship within 24 hours of ordering.
For now, the white iPod touch is enjoying its moment in the sun, as the looming iPhone 4S debut in another two days will all but certainly steal the show in the immediate future.
