• Barnes & Noble Debuts Nook Tablet

Looks like the rumor mill was right. On Monday, Barnes & Noble unveiled the latest addition to its popular Nook family - Nook Tablet, which is being hailed by the book-retailer as its "fastest and lightest" device so far.

If it appears that the Nook Tablet has an iPad-sort-of-feel to it, you are correct. Barnes & Noble admits that the tablet was designed for customers who want to read and be entertained with a variety of apps and media.

The introduction of the Nook Tablet comes just weeks after Amazon raised the curtain on the Kindle Fire. Of course, while some are quick to say the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet will take a bite out of Apple's share of the tablet market, it remains to be seen if these tablets are truly resonating with the same audiences.

For now, it's clear that Barnes and Noble wants a tablet that is at least capable of competing with the iPad. At the heart of the new device is access to HD entertainment. Nook Tablet offers access to movies, TV shows, and music through the top entertainment services, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora and others. There's also high-quality apps, "fast Web browsing," and, naturally, e-mail.

The tablet is now available for pre-order at NOOK® by BARNES & NOBLE, World's largest bookstore - Barnes*&*Noble and at Barnes & Noble stores for $249. According to Barnes and Noble, the Nook Tablet will be in stores and in homes on or about November 17.

“In Nook Tablet, we’ve created the best wireless media tablet in the portable 7-inch class," says William Lynch, Chief Executive Officer of Barnes & Noble. "Nook Tablet’s VividView display has been designed to be the world’s finest screen for readability and viewing content. We’ve utilized that breakthrough display technology to bring consumers the largest digital catalog of color and interactive books, magazines, children’s books and high-quality apps through our Nook Store.”

We are finally seeing competatively priced Android tablets. At a price like this, I may finally jump on this tablet bandwagon

If this ran full android with a custom Nook UI, then I would definitely buy one of these bad boys. It outweighs the Kindle Fire in specs, but it only has hints of android in it..this is basically a nook color with a few upgrades. Hopefully we will be able to root, and run full android like we could in the original nook color

what these companies need to do to make moar sales is use normal android, or at least give the option. Not buying one until so.
