• Twitter 4.0 Released

The new Twitter 4.0 has a nice layout and seems quicker.

Twitter has rolled out an update for Twitter dubbed version 4.0 which seems to take some design pointers from the new Facebook application for iPhone. I say that because of the matte look that it has. Nonetheless, it looks really nice and it is still nice and speedy. In this brief description, I will show you the inner workings of the application and show you the new interface. First, we will take a look at the news feed, which is easily the most important part about Twitter:

You can tell right off of the bat that the look is completely different from the old version. The matte-like interface, along with the embezzled look make it really attractive from the appearance standpoint. You can also see that icons have been updated to different looks than the previous version which felt pretty stock and boring. Beyond the news feed, we can take a look at the activity section of Twitter which lists all of your mentions, follower retweets, and new followers. You can filter the list between mentions or interactions:

You can see the two buttons at the top which allow you to filter the list of activity between either mentions or interactions, but you also have the ability to search through the list for specific words or names. That's not new, but it's useful to have. Next we have Twitter Discovery:

I've never really used Twitter Discovery on Twitter but I guess it lets you see what's new and helps you stumble upon information at a random interval. The last tab is your profile information:

The profile section holds most of the main features as the original Twitter application and for the most part looks the same. Again, the only major difference is the matte-like interface. The last major thing to go over is composing the actual tweet. The little pen/quill button at the top right of the twitter window will pull up this dialogue box which asks you to enter your tweet and also contains some extra options such as attaching media:

So for the most part, it's just a GUI (graphical user interface) makeover for Twitter which makes it look better. There didn't appear to be any new features.

Twitter 4.0 is completely compatible with Moeseth's jailbreak tweaks which include Twitter. Those are TwitkaFly which lets you Tweet from anywhere on iOS with a neat looking GUI and animations, and also Infinite Tweet which lets you natively tweet more than 140 characters in numerous Twitter clients as well as tag music that you're listening to and open/compress links and media directly from the Twitter application.

Tweetbot? I'll have to try it. I would have thought Echofon was leading the pack.

Upgraded on my iPhone, after 20 mins deleted it and restored the old version back from iTunes

Its too cluttered on the tweets with everything squashed up the top of the screen
