• CES 2012: OCZ Shows Off Lightfoot - A New Thunderbolt External SATA Drive

The folks over at PCPer recently posted about OCZ’s new external SSD set to release this year. The company’s new external USB 3.0 SSD, Lightfoot, is the successor to the current OCZ Enyo external USB 3.0 SSD. The new model comes packed with Thunderbolt support, which many Mac (and PC) users will soon be able to take advantage of.

According to OCZ, the Thunderbolt-equipped SSD should have transfer rates as high as 750MB/s and “improved latency and highly accurate time synchronization” for professional audio and video work which can be done directly on the drive. It is being speculated that users can expect drives as large as 1TB while also being available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB offerings as well. A 1TB SSD would definitely leave a dent in someone's pocket but details are scarce and prices haven't been announced just yet.

As of right now, there is no exact time frame on the release but more details may arrive this upcoming week so stay tuned by following us on Facebook, Twitter, and/or subscribing to our RSS feed.
