• New Version of Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 - Build 11D42 Seeded to Apple Developers

Another day, another developer beta release.

Following yesterday's release of iOS 5.1 beta 3 to the Apple developer community, Apple has also released Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 build 11D42 within the developer portal of Apple's Web Site. This new update to the beta lineup of Mac OS X Lion is meant to fix issues that were found in the previous beta build of Mac OS X Lion which was released around three weeks ago. Apple is asking developers once again to concentrate their time on specific aspects of Mac OS X Lion so that they can pinpoint issues and figure out whether or not everything works as expected.

The most notable things that Apple is asking developers to keep an eye on are the following applications: Address Book, iCal, Mail, Safari, and Spotlight. This could mean either one of two things - 1. Apple has made some changes to those applications and the way of which they function and needs the developers to test those new functions, or 2. Apple has implemented some new features into Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 that could possibly cause issues with those applications and they need to make sure that everything plays nicely.

With all of the applications listed there, it seems highly likely that it has to do with iCloud, since data from every one of those applications (except Spotlight) stores data in iCloud and syncs between devices. If Apple is working on integrating iCloud even better into iOS 5 and Mac OS X Lion, then we might see some more flexibility in its use. The interesting part is Spotlight - what could Apple be scheming with Spotlight? Cloud sync between Spotlight searches between devices? More Spotlight features? We can't wait to find out!

That is all that we know about the new Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 build 11D42 right now, but we will keep you updated if anything new arrives. If you're a developer who tests these kinds of updates, then get to the portal and start downloading! The download comes in at just under 1GB. What do you think will be coming up in Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3? Share in the comments.
