• Free iPad Engraving from Apple During the Holidays

Apple is on yet another iDevice engraving spree, this time for the iPad during the holiday shopping season. According to an announcement from the company, Apple will serve up complementary engraving exclusively through its online store.

So if you want to generously give your friend Bob a new iPad for the holidays, the tablet can be personalized to say "Bob's iPad" - or perhaps something a little more thoughtful and creative. Nonetheless, the engraving of mobile electronics devices (like the iPod) is surprisingly popular and will likely prove a hit for Appe during the remainder of 2010.

Despite its hefty cost, the iPad is expected to be a highly sought-after gift for the holidays, a situation Apple has prepared for by aggressively expanding the retail outlets that carry the tablet. In time for the holidays, the iPad will be available through Wal-Mart, Target, Best-Buy, and AT&T and Verizon stores.

With regard to how much space is available for a personal message on iPads purchased online through Apple, Apple is giving you two lines of free engraved text that will be placed on the back of the tablet. It is, however, important to point out that engraving an iPad could lengthen the shipping time upwards of three additional days - not an ideal situation for last-minute holiday shoppers.
