• iPad 3 Banners Already Draping Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

It's one of the most exciting indications of a major Apple announcement: the banners foreshadowing an Apple media event are going up today outside of San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

On Tuesday Apple began sending out press invitations to next Wednesday's event, where the third-generation iPad is expected to be unveiled. “We have something you really have to see. And touch,” the invitation reads, clearly depicting an iPad in the picture.

As of this writing, it isn't known if Apple will provide a live stream of the iPad 3 unveiling. But the event will begin March 7th at 10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m. Eastern and MMi will cover all the details as they emerge.

Next Wednesday's event will mark new Apple CEO Tim Cook's first opportunity to personally raise the curtain on a new iPad. In one his final public appearances for Apple, Steve Jobs took the stage in March of 2011 to show the world the iPad 2.
