• iCade Mods iPad for Ultimate Retro Gaming

Apple may not have appeared in an official capacity at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, but the company's presence was certainly felt. With iDevice accessories and knock-offs at every turn, Apple's influence on both vendors and their handpicked product displays was undeniable.

Among the true CES standouts is ION Audio, which unveiled a sweet iPad gaming accessory dubbed the "iCade." As the above video illustrates (and please note the cool old-school sound effects), the iCade visually represents a throwback to the arcade games that captured all of our quarters in childhood. Having first been teased by Thinkgeek last April Fools Day, ION would soon intervene and forge a partnership to elevate the "iCade" from concept to marketable product.

Incredibly, this spring you will be able to get your hands on the iCade when it officially debuts at a cost of $99 - not a bad price for avid classic gamers who will relish the experience. As it turns out, not only does the iCade deliver the joys of an analog interface with corresponding joystick and buttons (which connect to the iPad via Bluetooth), ION forged another partnership - one with legendary game maker Atari - to resurrect some of our favorite games from childhood through this retro gaming iPad accessory.
