Today the popular music recognition service, Shazam, has been introduced with an update to version 5.0. The application allows you to tap on the screen when you hear a song you like to use the built in microphone tag the song and find out what it is for your later activities. For many, it's a must-have iOS application and it has had quite the reputation for being reliable and great. If you own Shazam (or you plan to buy it), head over to the App Store:

The new update brings much faster tagging algorithms to make it faster to grab those songs before you miss them. The application launch is much zippier and it can also start listening as soon as you launch the application so you don’t even have to tap on the screen to invoke Shazam’s features.
More minor updates include editable Tweets for iOS 5 users, since iOS 5 brought us native Twitter integration – this function lets us Tweet the songs we tag. Additionally, Shazam was recently a tad laggy, which as been fixed to make all animations and navigation butter smooth. If you were a user of the friend feed, it will also load up faster. LyricPlay speed has also been improved so you can now stream the lyrics at almost the exact same time you are hearing the music you are tagging. You will also notice some interface differences.
Just like all App Store updates, this update is free for all current Shazam owners. If you have not bought the Shazam application yet, it will set you back $5.99 to grab your copy today. If you like music and have an open mind to the music surrounding your daily life, then I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t recommend Shazam to you. You can use it on your iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone.
