Remember when Steve Jobs said this?
Isaacson, having spent a ton of time with Jobs to compile the biography, came around to Steve's views on Android versus iOS on many accounts while with him. Isaacson illustrates Jobs' feelings about Android as he is quoted saying, "Google rips it off. It's almost copied verbatim by Android. And then they license it around promiscuously. And then Android starts surpassing Apple in market share, and this totally infuriated him. It wasn't a matter of money. He said: 'You can't pay me off, I'm here to destroy you'."
Citing MacRumors, Isaacson believes Tim Cook will take a different approach to handling the way Apple operates in co-existence with Android. Jobs was very closed minded when it came to competing products – making sure people believed Apple was the best and there was no other practical choice, which is why it angered him so much when consumers flocked to Android and why Jobs always went on the offensive against Android. Isaacson believes Cook will instead try to "settle" all of these lawsuits between Apple and other manufacturers of Android smartphones rather than leave them on the full-blown offensive.
