The popular jailbreaking application, redsn0w, is back in the game now with support for the latest untethered jailbreak for all devices running iOS 5.1.1 in version 0.9.12b1. Redsn0w will now jailbreak the iPad, iPad 2, the new iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 4G, and iPod touch 3G. The jailbreak implement’s pod2g’s Rocky Racoon untethered jailbreak method that was released with the Absinthe jailbreak tool for iOS 5.1.1.
With redsn0w being updated for the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak, Windows users can now pick between three tools – Absinthe, sn0wbreeze, or redsn0w. Mac users can pick between either Absinthe or redsn0w. Redsn0w and Absinthe will jailbreak all of the iOS 5.1.1 devices with just one click of a button without the need to enter DFU mode, while sn0wbreeze will only jailbreak A4 and earlier devices with the need to create a custom firmware and then use pwned DFU mode to install the jailbreak.
Using the new redsn0w, A4 and earlier iOS devices can have the Rocky Racoon untethered jailbreak installed one of two ways: backup and restore method – the way Absinthe installs it, or via ramdisk – this method is explained by the iPhone Dev Team to be safer because it won’t cause issues with iCloud later on:
In other news, ultrasn0w, cinject, and pwnagetool have all been updated to work with iOS 5.1.1 as well. All application downloads are listed below, and untrasn0w can be downloaded directly from Cydia on your jailbroken iOS device. Get downloading!
