The IT Firm ServiceNow recently went public as the company’s CEO revealed that the company’s operations are “wall-to-wall” reliant on Apple products, including iPhones and MacBooks. The company’s standard of using Apple products seems to have helped raise the public offering as much as 30% on the New York Stock Exchange.
Frank Slootman, ServiceNow’s CEO appeared on CNBC to promote his company’s IPO. While live on the set he was asked about the growth of Apple products in the enterprise, he responded with the following: "Our company, we're all Apple, wall to wall. Not just on the iPhone, also our notebooks, laptops and so on." When asked if enterprise was “embracing Apple in a surprisingly strong way," Slootman said: “I believe so.”
As of last year, ServiceNow, a firm based in San Diego, California, had more than 500 employees. According to Slootman, the company plans to hire another 400 personnel nearly doubling their size. The company has doubled its sales for eight years in a row and has $130 million in recurring revenue as well. A pretty big feat for the IT company which was founded in 2003 as a software-as-a-service provider of IT service management software. Slootman has been serving as ServiceNow’s CEO since 2001.
The company’s exclusive use of Apple products is pretty noteworthy as it indicates that Apple has found recent success in enterprise but still isn’t on the same level of growth in corporate when compared to the success the company has seen in the consumer world. In its quarterly earnings report, Apple boasted that nearly all Fortune 500 companies were either testing or deploying both the iPhone and iPad among their employees. Major corporations have also become developers of the iOS platform and are in the middle of creating and deploying “mission critical apps” specifically built for their employees. News like this seemed to have a positive effect not only on ServiceNow but also seems to be foreshadowing success for Apple in gaining some ground in the enterprise world.
