It is widely believed that Apple's 6th generation iPhone - which some are still calling the "iPhone 5" - will be released within the next 90 days. But despite that relatively lengthy period of time before the device reaches consumers, consumer demand for the next-gen Apple smartphone is said to have reached unprecedented proportions.
On Monday, ChangeWave published the results of a new survey indicating that a record number of people are expressing their intention to purchase the 6th generation iPhone right out of the gate. With 4G capabilities, NFC compatibility, and possibly a lrger screen coming to the refreshed iPhone, such widespread interest isn't difficult to perceive or comprehend.
"The biggest finding of the survey is the unprecedented level of advanced demand for the next generation Apple iPhone (i.e., the 'iPhone 5') — which based on these survey numbers easily dwarfs the advance demand of any previous iPhone launch," ChangeWave said.
Assuming that the long-established price points of new iPhones remain in place, 31% of those surveyed by ChangeWave admit that they are either "very likely" or "somewhat likely" to buy the new iPhone upon release. Never before has ChangeWave seen almost one-third of survey respondents express plans to purchase a new smartphone before any details about the device have been confirmed by the device manufacturer.
