While not the barn-burner iPhone sales enjoyed by AT&T and Verizon, Sprint today posted earnings for the second fiscal quarter of 2012 and iPhone sales weren't too shabby.
In fact, while iPhone sales have dipped elsewhere in Q2 over Q1, Sprint managed to sell 1.5 million iPhones, which is identical to the number of iPhones sold by Sprint in the first quarter. 40 percent of those devices sold in Q2 went to new postpaid customers.
As MMi previously reported, AT&T's Q2 iPhone sales fell to 3.7 million (5.5 million in Q1), while Verizon's Q2 iPhone sales were 2.7 million (down from 3.2 million activated in the first quarter).
All told, the carrier reported wireless service revenues of $7.3 billion during the second quarter, an increase of more than 8 percent year-over-year. Sprint still finished out the quarter in third place with Verizon and AT&T remaining the nation's top two carriers, respectively.
The June quarter ended with Sprint having approximately 56 million subscribers.
