The Wall Street Journal is confirming that Apple is, indeed, pursuing Kodak's extremely valuable patent portfolio.
In January, Kodak filed for Chapter 11 protection and is relying on a workable reorganization in response to a successful patent auction.
"This is a confidential naked auction and therefore we will have no comment," a rep from the embattled photography giant tells the WSJ. According to information gleaned today, a "bankruptcy court supervised auction" of Kodak's patents will take place on August 8th.
At least two groups are expected to bid on Kodak's trove of 1,100 patents, with a bevy of technology and patent heavyweights picking sides and competing for the patents, said people familiar with the matter.
