Over this past weekend, it looks like Sprint dropped the price of the iPhone 4S to $149 with a two-year contract. The price is a $50 drop from what it was previously, making it a bit more attractive to potential Apple customers than before.
The whole price drop is in anticipation of a new iPhone being around the corner. Sprint seems to be touting the new price as well as a waived activation fee on its website. Something that makes it a bit more interesting is that it’s not only Sprint approving of the promotion but also Apple.
As of right now, both AT&T and Verizon representatives didn’t provide any comments on the situation. It is uncertain whether they will offer a similar promotion but chances are that they too will follow suit. Another question that comes to mind is how this will affect the pricing scheme going forward. It’s likely that the iPhone 4S might get another price bump upon the release of the next-generation iPhone, putting everything back into the pricing scheme it was at before. That being said, it’s still a bit uncertain.
