If you see a cheap iPad on Craigslist, be very careful in pursuing the deal. Robbers located in Uniontown, PA have been using Craigslist to bait and trap potential buyers in non-populated parking lots, where they would then be robbed by armed men instead of being sold the iPad they had intended to buy. The iPads were listed at insanely low prices on Craigslist to draw the victims to the robbers. There is no word yet on the type of iPad being sold or the prices they were listed at.
The iPad market is definitely large and with these rough economic times upon us, desperate people will do almost anything to make a quick buck – even rob people. iPad scams have been reported on a global scale, with this robbery event being the latest. There will continue to be more and more iPad scams as long as the device is in large demand because it's easy to take advantage of.
It may be hard to resist an opportunely-priced iPad, however you should be careful when buying iPads on Craigslist, or anywhere else for that matter, for ridiculously low prices; it could be a scam. Never accept a deal from someone online to take place in a lonely parking lot, rather you would be far better off processing a deal in the middle of a populated area where help will be all around you should things go south.
If you are looking for a good deal on an iPad, you should check with your family and friends first, or consider looking on the refurbished section of Apple's Web site. At least with these methods you may spend a little more, but walk out without being harmed.
