• Dropbox Up to 100 Million Users, Starts Free Storage Contest

Dropbox has announced via their blog that they have reached over 100 million users. Dropbox is a free cloud-based service that allows users to store files such as documents, photographs, and videos on a remote server that can be accessed on multiple devices running under the same account. Users can also pay to add larger storage options.

Dropbox has tons of competing services, such as Apple’s iCloud, Microsoft’s SkyDrive, and Google Drive. One thing about Dropbox, however, is that they just seem to stand out more. Citing the Dropbox blog, the amount of users has quadrupled in the last year.

With all the promotions Dropbox offers to increase the amount of free storage that a user can get, this isn’t very surprising. Users also can refer friends and family to Dropbox and get additional free storage added on to what they start with. To get more storage in solutions like iCloud, users have no choice but to purchase more storage if they need more space.

To celebrate the achievement of 100 million users, Dropbox is hosting a contest where you can share your Dropbox story. If you’re chosen within one of the top one-hundred stories, you’ll get 10GB of storage for free. If you’re chosen within one of the top ten stories, you’ll get 100GB of storage for free. You can become a part of that contest here.
